A slump of car sales going on for a year in the EU has now also reached Bulgaria, according to data by the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA).

Car sales in Bulgaria for September were 21.6% less than for the same month last year - down to 1,347 from 1,718.

This makes car sales for the first nine months of 2012 (14,354 units) to be 0.7% weaker than those for the same period in 2011.

Other EU countries have also seen a slump for September and the first nine months of the year.

For Germany, the largest car market in the EU, that decrease has been with 10.8% and 7.6%, respectively.

The UK has however seen an improvement of the situation, with car sales for September up by 8.2%, and for the first nine months up by 4.3%.
