Bulgaria's investigators selected their envoy to the country's Supreme Judicial Council Wednesday.
The winner of the vote is Rumen Georgiev, who got 235 votes out of 370 valid ones.
The other candidate in the race, Koycho Truhchiev, gathered the support of 135 delegates.
Georgiev, a deputy head of the National Investigation Service, has previously sat in the Council, which is a body overseeing Bulgaria's judiciary.
In his speech, he said that he will fight for more powers to be given to the investigation, as according to him those were severely curtailed by previous legislative amendments.
11 Supreme Judicial Council members are elected by Parliament, while the other 11 are form a professional quota – 6 judges, 4 prosecutors and 1 investigator.
Judges have already elected their delegates; prosecutors will do so on September 21, while the Members of the Parliament – on September 26.
A recent sociological survey conducted by the Center for Analysis and Marketing (CAM) in February indicates that five parties are likely to secure seats in Bulgaria’s next parliament. According to the study, these parties are Rumen Radev’s formation, GERB
