A series of explosions have jolted congested areas of Mumbai, India's financial capital, wounding dozens of people.
The three explosions occurred within minutes of one another late Wednesday night, with at least 15 wounded, according to CNN's sister station CNN-IBN reported.
Private intelligence agency Stratfor has reported at least 5 killed and some 100 wounded, pointing out that this marks the first major attack in India since the November 2008 Mumbai attacks, even though the magnitude of these attacks has yet to be determined.
CNN cites Indian police as saying the explosions occurred in the Dadar, Opera House and Zaveri Bazaar areas, all busy commercial areas that were certainly teeming with people in the evening rush hour. The area in Dadar is near a train station used by millions of commuters.
Chhagan Bhujbal, the Maharashtra state's public works minister, told CNN-IBN that the intensity of the blasts was not known.
Additional information was not immediately available, but memories of November 2008 resurfaced for nervous Mumbaikers, when in a series of attacks, 10 armed Pakistanis stormed the city's main train station, two luxury hotels and a Jewish cultural center, killing 164 people.
