Bulgarian Left, Right Concerned about 'EU on 2 Speeds'

Bulgarian PM Boyko Borisov presented Tuesday in Parliament a report on his cabinet's priorities during the Hungarian Presidency of the EU in the first half of 2011.
Among the main concerns of MPs from both opposition Bulgarian Socialist Party and rightist Blue Coalition was the new dangers to integration and internal cohesion in the Union.
Socialist leader Sergey Stanishev argued against the proposed Franco-German competitiveness pact, which according to him will divide the EU into an elite and a periphery and will hamper the social role of the EU.
Blue MP Asen Agov criticized the notion of "Europe on two speeds" championed by some member-states and asked the PM whether Bulgaria will support it or fight for the unity of the EU.
The top priority stated by PM Borisov was Bulgaria's accession to the Schengen zone within the term of the Hungarian Presidency.
Other priorities include Union-wide coordination in economic policy and governance, as well as the reform of the Union agricultural policy in 2013.
