The heavy fog at the Bulgarian Bansko ski resort may lead to reorganizing some FIS men's Alpine Ski World Cup starts scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.
If the fog which has covered the Banderitsa race track is still present, the super combination scheduled for 10:00 am local time on Saturday may have to be moved to Sunday, while Sunday's slalom might be moved to Saturday. The other option is for the super giant slalom to be moved to 14 am Saturday, while the slalom may be moved to 10 am the same day, the competition's organizers say.
The FIS Alpine Ski World Cup is the top international circuit of Alpine Skiing competitions staged annually. It is considered the premier competition in alpine ski racing together with the quadrennial Olympic Winter Games and the biennial FIS Alpine World Ski Championships.
About 15 000 people are expected to arrive in the resort for the prestigious event.
Four world champions will take part in the championship – Christof Innerhofer from Italy, Ted Ligety from USA, Jean-Baptiste Grange and Thomas Fanara from France.
