A Polish official under the influence has pressured the crew of the late President Lech Kaczynski's plane upon the tragic accident in April 2010, according to a Russian report.

On Wednesday, the Russian Interstate Aviation Committee (MAK) sent to Poland its final report on the plane crash that killed then Polish President Lech Kaczynski.

According to the report, the presence of Poland's air force commander Andrez Blasik in the cockpit has been one of the main reasons for the plane crash near Smolensk, as he has been pressuring the crew.

Blasik had a high blood-alcohol level, the aviation committee has stated.

The Russian report points out the crew's failure to heed weather warnings and land at a different airport as the direct reason for the tragedy.

"During the flight, the crew were repeatedly informed of inadequate weather conditions at the destination airport," Tatyana Anodina, head of the aviation committee has commented.

"Despite this, the crew of the Tu-154 did not take a decision to switch to a back-up airfield. This may be considered as the start of the extreme situation aboard the plane," according to Anodina.

The investigation has ruled out fire, explosion, engine failure or a terrorist attack on the Tupolev-154 aircraft.

A total of 96 people, including Poland's President Lech Kaczynski, his wife Maria Kaczynska, as well as dozens of top Polish military and civilian officials, historians, and public figures found their death in the tragic accident.
