The car of Bulgaria's Defense Minister drove at a red light and a very high speed which caused last night's accident, witnesses say.
Talking to reporters the driver of the hit jeep and witnesses of the car crash claimed that the Minister's car was driving at a speed of 120 km/h, failed to stop at a red light and is to blame for the car accident.
On Thursday the head of the National Security Service Dimitar Dimitrov announced that he would order and instigation into what caused the driver of the Minister's car to overstep the Road Traffic Law during last night's car crash.
“We will know for sure who was to blame for the accident after the investigation is over,” announced Dimitrov. “The police and the Military Prosecution are charged with the case. The most probable reason for the accident is neglecting the right of way. Yet the respective authorities will decide who is to blame for the car crash,” explained Dimitrov.
A car of the Bulgarian National Security Service transporting Defense Minister Anyu Angelov hit a jeep at a crossroads on Bulgaria Blvd on Wednesday night. Minister Angelov and a four-year-old girl who was riding in the jeep suffered minor injuries and were taken to the governmental hospital.
Minister Angelov was discharged almost immediately whereas the girl had been left under doctoral supervision overnight.
