Serbian police have raided the Sofia-Nis international train and arrested the Bulgarian conductor who was trying to smuggle 5,1 kg of heroin into the country, the Director of Nis police confirmed.

The 27-year-old Bulgarian train conductor - Vladimir V., 27 years. He delivered the heroin to two Serbian men, who were also arrested, at Nis train station.

The Serbian police first seized the drugs and arrested the two Serbians and then stopped and boarded the Sofia-Nis train to handcuff the Bulgarian conductor.

The three are accused of the illegal production and sale of drugs and will now remain in jail for a month before trial.

According to Nis police in 2009 has been a record year for the seizure of drugs - 29 kilograms of heroin and 105 kilograms of various other drugs.
