Krasimir Gorsov, the father of the comatose Manuela Gorsova, was received Friday a suspended sentence because he spent BGN 132 000 from the donations for the treatment of his daughter.

Manuela Gorsova fell in a coma after car crash caused by Bulgarian world gold medalist figure-skater, Maxim Staviiski, on August 5, 2007. After expensive treatment in Israel, she has started to recover.

Manuela's father, Krasimir Gorsov, was sentenced because in March-August 2008 in a total of 27 separate transactions he withdrew over 132 000 BGN from two of the bank accounts with donations for the treatment of his daughter, spending most of the money on gambling.

Gorsov has received a suspended sentence of 2,5 years with a five-year probation. This is the exact same sentence that figure-skating star Maxim Staviiski got for causing the crash, in which Manuela's boyfriend, 24-year-old Petar Petrov, was killed.

In addition, Gorsov is sentenced to pay BGN 6 531 of judicial expenses, and to return the sum of BGN 132 287.

The prosecution had demanded a sentence of 2 years in prison for Gorsov. Both Prosecutor Dimitar Petrov, and Gorsov himself said they would appeal the sentence. There is a 15-day deadline for appeals.
