Thousands of protesters clashed with police in Strasbourg, France, during the NATO Summit taking place there and in Baden Baden, Germany.

Violent protesters attacked police forces, and set a customs house on fire at the Europa Bridge over the Rhein where French President Sarkozy and other state leaders celebrated France's rejoining of the NATO military command, BGNES reported.

The protesters' actions even led to the cancellation of a planned visit to a cancer hospital by Michelle Obama, and other First Ladies.

The violent rallies are supposed to be a sign of protest against war by the protesters who describe NATO as a tool of Western imperialism.
