Begium's Chamber of Representatives adopted late Thursday a bill ratifying the Treaty of Accession of Bulgaria and Romania to the European Union.
The bill was supported by 115 MPs, 14 voted against, and one abstained.
All MPs of Flemish extreme nationalists party Vlaams Belang were against the bill. Vlaams Belang MPs did not support the accession of the 10 new EU member states in 2004 either.
Belgium's Senate ratified the Accession Treaty signed by Sofia and Bucharest last year on March 30.
To become effective the ratification needs to be cleared by the lower house of the parliament as well as well as by the three regional and the two-language community parliaments.
Bulgaria hopes to join the EU in January 2007 and one of the prerequisites is that its Accession Treaty is ratified by all 25 EU member countries.
