The Executive Bureau of the Bulgarian Socialist Party will propose to the Higher Council Sergey Stanishev to be the successor of Georgi Parvanov, President-elect and Socialist leader, Dnevnik Daily wrote. The 44th Congress of the Party is expected to elect on December 15 the new Socialist leader. Parvanov said that he will personally nominate Stanishev to the position. A considerable majority of the party’s leaders voted for Stanishev. The most possible future socialist leader is 35 years old, history major. He specialized in the field of international relations in London. He worked as journalist and is currently Secretary with the Higher Council of the Bulgarian Socialist Party on international issues. Parvanov's current deputy Rumen Ovcharov will most probably be also nominated for the position.
