Ilinden, Pleven-based machine building company, earned USD 1,3 M in 2001 from the sale of six lines for production of aluminium car parts to major US carmakers. According to Vanyo Petrov, Executive Director of the plant, the Bulgarian-invented lines are unique. The method used by the Bulgarian company makes aluminiam parts as strong and durable as is they are made of steel. Ilinden’s main partner is US-registered company Intermet. It produces various car parts for major US carmakers, including General Motors, Chrysler. Ilinden maintains business relations with Belgium, Spain, Italy, Taiwan, China, Turkey and Russia.
