The Cabinet approved a draft financial memorandum under the National PHARE 2001 Program for Bulgaria with total budget of EUR 82.823 M. The EU grant will be focused on four priority program fields: the economic reform and the implementation of the EU legislation, economic and social cohesion, strengthening of the state administration, integration of minorities and building a pluralistic civil society. Projects in these fields will be implemented by November 2004. Deputy Foreign Minister and Bulgaria’s Chief negotiator with the EU Meglena Kouneva will sign the memorandum and the coordinate letters to the Head of the Delegation of the European Commission in Sofia. After signing the memorandum the total amount of grants, which the EU has extended to Bulgaria under the PHARE since 1990, will reach EUR 1,082,823,000.
