CSKA Sofia Eliminated Ludogorets in the Bulgarian Cup Competition
The team of CSKA Sofia achieved a 2-1 victory after extra minutes in a match against Ludogorets and eliminated the champion of the Bulgarian Cup football tournament.
CSKA Sofia will give part of its revenues from hosting its next game to the family of Filipe Machado, who died in the plane crash in Colombia earlier this week.
Machado, who was among the 71 who died in the plane crash with much of Chapecoense's team on Monday, played for CSKA between 2007 and 2009, appearing in 37 games. He also contributed to the team's league title in 2009 in the final against Levski Sofia.
On its website, the club has said they will donate BGN 1 from the price of every ticket bought for their game against Pirin on Sunday.
Tickets are at BGN 5 and BGN 8. The match will take place at 17:30 on Balgarska Armiya Stadium on Sunday.
"Filipe Machado [was] a great professional, an exceptionally positive and good person, we will all remember him like this," the club said.
The gesture is small, "but in memory of a great person," CSKA has said.
CSKA fans also honoured Machado on Wednesday by leaving scarves, cards and candles at the entrance of the Brazilian Embassy in Sofia.
