Bulgaria's former ruling party, center-right GERB, will be ready with its list for May European Elections in early March, announced vice-chair Tsvetan Tsvetanov.

GERB, which currently has the largest political group in the Bulgarian Parliament, will hold a national congress February 16, announced Tsvetanov in Bulgaria's western town of Radomir Saturday.

"We will elect a new executive committee for the party, three new vice-chairs, and of course, we will reconfirm the chairmanship of [former Bulgarian PM] Boyko Borisov," said the top GERB functionary.

Tsvetanov, who served as Deputy-PM and Minister of Interior in the Borisov cabinet (2009-13), has suggested he will withdraw from his position as GERB vice-chair.

He is currently facing trial over an alleged overstepping of powers as minister with respect to wiretapping carried out by law enforcement agencies during his term in office.

Saturday Tsvetanov also revealed that right after the national congress, GERB will start consultations in its regional structures for the preparation of the party's list for European Elections 2014.

Early March, GERB representatives will take part in the European People's Party (EPP) congress, at which the party is expected to nominate its candidate for President of the European Commission.
