Novinite.ru – formally launched on January 7, 2013 – is a news site about Bulgaria in Russian created by the Team of Novinite.com (Sofia News Agency) – Bulgaria's largest English-language media – and Novinite.bg – a Bulgarian-language news portal.
Novinite.ru ("novinite" means "the news" in Bulgarian) has been modeled after the Bulgarian English-language media Novinite.com (Sofia News Agency) – a leader in providing news and analyses about Bulgaria to hundreds of thousands of international readers from around the world.
Novinite.ru's goal is inform Russian-speaking readers in Bulgaria, Europe, Asia, and all over the world about events and developments in Bulgaria, the EU, and globally in various fields – focusing primarily on business, politics, and society – as well as providing more in-depth analytical stories building upon its news coverage.
A key priority of the Team of Novinite.ru is to offer its readers the successful approach of Novintie.com (Sofia News Agency) and Novinite.bg of neutrality and objectivity in news coverage and presenting various viewpoints and opinions in commentaries and analytical stories.
With the launch of Novinite.ru (in Russian), the group of Novinite now includes six media – Novinite.com (Sofia News Agency), The Sofia Morning News, and The Sofia Weekly (in English, launched in 2001); Novinite.bg and The Novinite Daily (in Bulgarian, launched in 2011 and 2012).
As a brand-new product, Novinite.ru offers its readers a qualitatively new innovative design.
Novinite.ru is an ambitious project inspired by the growing interest of citizens of Russia and other Russian-speaking countries in business and investments, tourism, and properties in Bulgaria – as well as by the traditional historical connections and cultural closeness between Bulgarians and Russian-speaking peoples.
In this regard, Novinite.ru's birthday – Ivanovden, i.e. the day of St. Ivan (John), on January 7, the day after Epiphany – has not been picked randomly. In Bulgarian culture and national memory before and after Bulgaria's Liberation from the Ottoman Empire by Russia, Russia has been known with the image of "Uncle Ivan" - a sustained and intriguing image whose widely-interpreted new dimensions in the 21st century are yet to be the matter of our coverage and analyses.
We would like to thank our Russian-speaking readers in advance for the opportunity to win over their interest and trust!
