Elderly Family Brutally Attacked by Fake Policemen in Blagoevgrad Home Invasion
A horrifying incident unfolded in Blagoevgrad as an elderly family fell victim to a vicious assault in their own home
The fire in the Belitsa Municipality in the southwestern region of Blagoevgrad that erupted Tuesday has been tamed and localized.
The news was reported Wednesday afternoon by the regional Fire Safety and Protection of Population services in Blagoevgrad.
The flames engulfed over 2 000 decares of pine forest and triggered panic among locals who, after seeing the approaching blaze, took what they could and left their homes despite assurances from the authorities that the blaze would not reach the residential areas.
The area near the village of Galabovo has sustained the most damage.
Over 500 people, firemen, forest rangers, military servicemen, volunteers, and two helicopters took part in the extinguishing effort.
Some of them remain on duty monitoring the area and extinguishing the last outbreaks.
The large number of blazes is attributed to the persisting heat wave and draught, and to human recklessness. This particular one has been most likely caused by a sparkle in an electric power transformer.
