Bulgaria's Defense Minister, Anyu Angelov, has warned that his department may face legal sanctions by the Arbitration Court.
Angelov announced on Monday that a failure to carry out commitments to modernization contracts means the ministry may fall foul of the Arbitration Court.
He said that a deal for the supply of military transport aircraft is not currently under active negotiation with the Italian company Alenia Aeronautica.
"So far, the proposals concerning the "Spartan" transporter plane are: to implement the contract as signed, and to maybe cancel two aircraft, but take something else from Alenia," the Minister explained.
Bulgaria is currently committed to paying EUR 91 M for five Spartans.
The Defense Minister also remarked on the complications of another contract, for Eurofighter Panther military helicopters, saying that the ministry hoped to redirect payments for aircraft already delivered, and then to terminate the entire contract.
