Bulgaria’s Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology has published an online questionnaire to analyze which organizations would register their Internet domain name in Cyrillic.
The enquiry is part of the Bulgarian state initiative for contributing to the recent International Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) decision to open up registration of domain names to alphabets other than Roman.
The online questionnaire forms a part of the national consultative process, and a deadline of December 31 has been set for participation.
Respondents are asked, among other things, whether the state should take part in the future management of the Bulgarian domain names in Cyrillic. They are asked their opinion about registration prices, to suggest rapid procedures for processing new names, and questions concerning future participation, copyrights and trademarks.
Participant’s opinions will be assessed by the ministry, becoming part of the evidence to be submitted to ICANN in 2010.
The questionnaire (in Bulgarian) can be accessed HERE
