Sole Candidate for Head of Bulgaria's Competition Regulator Withdraws
The only candidate for chairperson of Bulgaria's Commission for Protection of Competition (KZK), Rosen Zhelyazkov, withdrew his candidacy on Wednesday.
One of the leaders of the rightist Blue Coalition, and leader of the United Democratic Forces (UDF), Martin Dimitrov, became the Chair of the Parliament Committee on Economy, Energy, and Tourism.
His deputies will be Mario Tagarinski from "Order, Law, Justice" (RZS), Yordan Tsonev from the ethnic Turkish DPS party, and Stoyan Mavrodiev from the Ruling GERB party.
The National Assembly also chose the board of the Committee on Transport, Information Technology, and Communication. Ivan Valkov from GERB will be its Chair, and his deputies will be Svilen Kraychev from GERB, Ivan Ivanov from the Blue Coalition, and the former Transport Minister, Petar Mutafchiev, from Coalition for Bulgaria.
The Bulgarian parliament has voted that no plenary sessions will be held from 1-21 August but as had already been announced by the new GERB government commissions that have to prepare new laws will continue to work through the holiday.
