Bulgaria's unemployment rate in April 2009 stood at 7,04%, up by 0,16% over the previous month, official statistics showed on Monday.
A total of 260 693 Bulgarians were registered as unemployed in April as the Bulgarian labor market starts to feel the full impact of the global economic crisis, the Employment Agency said.
Labor Minister Emilia Maslarova recently forecast that despite the upward trend, the unemployment rate will remain at levels close to 7% over the next few months.
The forecasts of the trade union were much more disturbing, saying that a total of 100,00 people will remain unemployed by the end of the year, while the jobless rate will be two-digit.
