A 27-year-old taxi driver died on spot after he caused a chain crash near Bulgaria's second largest city of Plovdiv on Wednesday.

In an attempt to overtake another vehicle on the road, the cab hit against a Mercedes, which was moving in the opposite lane.

A car, travelling behind the taxi, did not mange to stop in time and bumped into the cab.

The driver of the Mercedes survived due to the air bag in the car. He was rushed to a nearby hospital with serious head and chest injuries.

None of the passengers, who were riding in the third car, involved in the crash, was hurt, authorities reported.
