It is possible the scandals on the tops of the judiciary and the executive powers, that marked the development of the MEP vote campaign, to make the voters hesitant, Bulgaria's president said after he cast his ballot on Sunday.

There is always a penal vote and these elections are a good occasion for the Bulgarians to do it, President Georgi Parvanov added.

The turnout of today's vote will define how well Bulgaria will defend its national interests in the European Parliament, Parvanov believes.
