Four Bulgarian musicians will choose the participants in the Music Idol talent contest, which will be on TV screens from March.
Bulgaria's most renowned pop diva Yordanka Hristova will be chairperson of the jury, which includes pop-folk singer Gloria, pop singer and composer Donnie and the host of the bTV channel's late night show Slavi Trifonov.
The four of them are assigned the tough job to choose the 40 participants from 8270 people who applied. The jury will visit all auditions in the country to see who of the pop-idol wannabes are good enough to take part in the contest.
72% of the people who applied are women, and most of them are aged between 16 and 20 years. The first Music Idol audition is scheduled for January 18 in the the Danube city Rousse. Hosts of the show will be Ivan and Andrey from the popular morning show Sblasak (Clash).
The Music Idol series will be on the TV screens for six months. Music Idol talent contest is the European version of UK's Pop Idol. The Idol format has been launched in dozens of nations worldwide, and there have been many imitations of the program.
