Bulgaria emitted new postage stamps, featuring Bulgaria's opera prima Ghena Dimitrova.
The idea belongs to Hristina Anguelakova, chairman of the "National Opera and Ballet" foundation, on the occasion of her 65th birth anniversary.
The stamp has a face value BGN 1 and circulation of 20 000 copies. A separate letter envelope will be released with a printed stamp on it.
The stamp with the image of the great opera- prima is made by Ivan Bogdanov, who has a rich experience in philately. He created it forty years after his first stamp was emitted.
Ghena Dimitrova died in June last year in Milan after a fabulous career on the most prestigious stages. She was suffering from an incurable disease and was admitted to an Italian hospital, where her condition abruptly deteriorated.
It was her last will to spend her last days in Bulgaria and be buried here.
Ghena Dimitrova has been recognized as one of the most famous sopranos of the past 35 years. She was born in Beglezh, Bulgaria in 1941. The opera diva graduated singing with maestro Christo Brambarov at the Sofia Conservatory in 1965 and made her debut in Sofia in 1967.
