Bulgarian veteran defender Marian Hristov will have to skip the upcoming World Cup qualifier against Croatia, it emerged this week.
Hristov has been recovering from a knee trauma since last autumn.
Bulgaria-Croatia will take place on June 4 at Sofia's Vassil Levski Stadium.
The Bulgarian side is left with a scarce chance of qualifying for the World Cup, after losing to Sweden and being drawn by Hungary. The Swedes trashed the team of Hristo Stoitchkov 3-0 in March.
Then all hopes were pinned on the encounter against the Hungarians, and the Bulgarians side actually managed to take 1-0 lead. However, they allowed a last-gasp equalizer three minuted before the end of the game.
