A fantasy fiction festival will take place in Bulgaria's biggest coastal city Varna from August 15 through 17. The event called Aqualonia 2003 is sponsored by the local fantasy fan club Zemlemoria together with the Fantasy Foundation and the club of the Bulgarian Rin Ennor Tolkien society.

The first day of the festival will see a string of meetings of Bulgarian fantasy and science fiction writers with enthusiastic readers. Aqualonia will boast the presence of Lyubomir Nikolov whose novel "The Tenth Righteous Man" was recently pronounced the best fantasy book in Bulgaria for the last decade.

The famous writer who has also the Bulgarian translation of The Lord of the Rings in his credentials is expected to moderate a discussion on the works of enormously popular JRR Tolkien.

On August 16, fantasy publisher Ivan Krumov will deliver a lecture on the Matrix sequel.

The festival will also witness prominent scientists take part in the discussions. The director of the astronomy observatory in Varna, Ivan Ivanov, will feature in the "Universe and Intelligence" seminar while oceanologist and archeologist Prof. Petko Dimitrov swill speak on a recent hypothesis that Noah's Arc should be sought for at the bottom of the Black Sea near Varna.
