Serbia's President Aleksandar Vucic has warned that Serbia could withdraw from the Council of Europe if Kosovo is admitted to the organization, as reported by media outlets in Belgrade
Foreign Affairs Ministers of 47 member states of the Council of Europe are meeting on Wednesday to discuss the state of democracy and human rights in Europe and policies toward neighboring regions.
Chaired by Bulgaria's top diplomat Daniel Mitov, the session will be opened by the country's President Rosen Plevneliev.
It comes as Bulgaria's six-month rotating presidency of the Committee of Ministers' meetings expires at the end of May.
A report will be delivered by CoE Secretary General Thorbjorn Jagland on the state of democracy, human rights and the rule of law. Other issues to be discussed during the session are Europe's response to extremism, the refugee crisis, and "the key role of democracy, human rights and the rule of law in conflict resolution", the CoE says in a statement.
Earlier this week, the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry said the country placed emphasis on media freedom during its six-month term.
Chairmanship will be handed over by Mitov at the end of the meeting to Estonia's Foreign Affairs Minister Marina Kaljurand.
