Weather in Bulgaria: Rain and Clouds Across the Country
As Bulgarians gear up for the day ahead, weather forecasts paint a picture of mixed conditions across the country for May 10
Bulgarian snowboarder Radoslav Yankov won the world cup in men’s parallel giant slalom on Sunday.
The 26–year-old from the town of Chepelare reached the quarterfinals and finished sixth in the last race for the season in Winterberg on Sunday, earning 400 points and becoming unchallenged in the final standing.
Yankov has 4050 points in the final standing, leaving Roland Fischnaller from Italy second with 430 points.
This is a historic achievement for Bulgaria, with Yankov becoming the first Bulgarian to win a world cup in the winter sports.
The achievement is all the more remarkable as Bulgaria has no proper snowboarding track.
Yankov grabbed the title after achieving two victories, one second place, and finishing sixth, seventh, ninth and thirteenth in this season's races.
His achievement comes only a day after Alexandra Jekova won the ladies’ snowboard cross competition in Veysonnaz on Saturday.
