Europe should explore ways to solve the solve the deep running problems in Syria, instead of stimulating the migrant influx, Foreign Minister Daniel Mitov has said.
In an interview with private national bTV channel, he has reiterated that an international coalition must be set up to fight the Islamic State (IS) group and explore options to deal with the migrant crisis.
"This can happen only through common and coordinated action," he has explained, criticizing Russia over its "separative" action in Syria.
Russia, in his words, should join the coalition "but not in the way it is doing it for the moment".
If "all the world" is not supportive of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, then "of course Russia's actions are separative if it is," the Foreign Minister has pointed out.
With regard to Sofia's move to deny overflight to a Russian humanitarian convoy that Moscow claimed was carrying weapons to Syria, he has reiterated that Bulgaria would allow Russian aircraft to use an air corridor only after checkups of cargo.
He has also called on Europe to "stop stimulating the migrant influx - migrant centers should be created outside the borders of the EU, where there are favourable conditions... [Refugees] should be told that their status does not allow them to stay in the EU forever and that they will be sent back when the situation in their countries is normalized."
He has asserted that Bulgaria and Turkey are in "constant contact" over a potential influx of migrants at the southeastern border.
