A bust monument dedicated to the prominent Bulgarian writer Ivan Vazov will be soon unveiled in the Argentinian town of Berisso.
The idea originated from the Bulgarian cultural society in Berisso, which is named after the writer, announced the mayor of Vazov's hometown Sopot.
The Bulgarian consul in Argentina Stoyan Mihaylov added that a plot for the monument had already been allocated.
The governor of the town, whose wife is of Bulgarian descent, provided a plot in the centre, 24 Chasa daily reports.
A local sculptor will craft the image of Vazov, while the municipality of Sopot will provide the funding for the monument, which will be ready by the autumn.
The unveiling ceremony is expected to be attended by Bulgarian Culture Minister Vezhdi Rashidov and the Argentinian Ambassador to Bulgaria Guillermo Salvador Azrak, who supports the initiative.

Ivan Vazov was a prominent Bulgarian poet, novelist and playwright, who lived between the second half of the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century.
He is often regarded as the “Patriarch of Bulgarian literature”, his works focusing on the Bulgarian National Revival, the liberation of Bulgaria from Ottoman rule and the first years of the new state.
