Athletes in Beijing Flooded the Organizers of the Olympics with Complaints
Athletes at the Beijing Olympics have flooded organizers with complaints about extreme training and start conditions, quarantine rules and food.
Bulgarian athletes have won 16 medals at the 2014 Special Olympics European Summer Games in Antwerp.
The competitions took place on September 9-21 and brought together over 2000 athletes with intellectual disabilities from 58 countries, 1000 coaches, more than 4000 volunteers and over 300 officials, thousands of families, friends and journalists from all over the world.
Bulgaria was represented by 16 athletes who won a total of 16 medals, including 8 gold, 6 silver and 2 bronze medals, according to reports of the BGNES news agency.
The results of the competitions were presented by Hristo Hristozov, Chair of Special Olympics Bulgaria, at a press conference on Monday.
Bulgaria’s champions at the 2014 Special Olympics European Summer Games in Antwerp were Dimitar Sokolov (badminton singles), Veronika Demireva and Dimitar Sokolov (badminton doubles); Pavlina Nedelcheva (bocce individual), Alexander Hristov and Pavlina Nedelcheva (bocce doubles), Yordan Bogdanov, Alexander Hristov, Pavlina Nedelcheva and Yummyu Halil (bocce teams); Ana Pramatarova (long jump), Valeriy Dosev (long jump), Ana Pramatarova, Iliya Danailov, Martin Petrov and Miroslava Petrova (4x100m relay)
Bulgaria’s caretaker Sports Minister Kalin Kamenov congratulated the athletes for their achievements and vowed to provide training camps at the sites of the National Sport Base for their next international event.
