Quest for Peace: Hamas Contemplates Truce Amid Ceasefire Talks

Bulgarian Parliament Chair Mihail Mikov has reiterated that the National Center for Study of Public Opinion (NCIOM) has to be closed.
The state-owned opinion research center conducted a poll last month showing that some 60% of Bulgarians back the ongoing anti-government protests in the country.
NCIOM also showed in July that the Socialist-endorsed government of Bulgarian Prime Minister Plamen Oresharski had started its term with a record-high 59% disapproval.
“I believe we do not need that. There are enough polling agencies,” Mikov told reporters on Monday, referring to NCIOM.
Commenting on the ongoing anti-corruption rallies demanding the government’s resignation, Mikov said the rulers would not step down as a result of “pressure just for the sake of pressure.”
“The Parliament’s legitimacy is based on elections,” he reminded.
Monday marks the 53rd consecutive day of anti-graft protests against Bulgaria’s government. The rallies were prompted by a series of highly controversial appointments and wider concerns about corruption.
