Quest for Peace: Hamas Contemplates Truce Amid Ceasefire Talks
Efforts persist to broker a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in Gaza, with the latter considering a proposed 40-day truce from Israel.
The Sofia University, Bulgaria's oldest and most prestigious college, has "closed its doors" for students from the "Eagles' Bridge" movement, who elected last week legendary football player Hristo Stoichkov as their patron.
The University President, Prof Ivan Ilchev, has banned the National Representation of Student Councils' (NPSS) round table from being held at the school's popular restaurant, known as "The Egg."
bTV reports this has forced the students to move the event to the "Blue Lion" club, another popular establishment in downtown Sofia.
In a statement, the University says its academic community strongly opposes yet another NPSS attempt to legitimize its actions by using the name of the school and its campus for political initiatives.
Meanwhile, a group of college students, who do not accept the NPSS representation and Stoichkov's nomination, have accused the resigned Cabinet of Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, and his Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria party, GERB, in attempting to replace the protests in the country.
According to NPSS, it received funds as donation from Stoichkov, but the Arena Armeets office said that the rent was paid by the student union itself.
