Bulgaria: Bulgarian Interior Min: Next Time We'll Be Arresting Judges

Bulgarian Minister of Interior Tsvetan Tsvetanov spoke harshly of the Bulgarian judiciary, following a police operation against persons released by courts on bail.

Overnight police arrested 10 persons from what they believed to be one of the top robbers' gangs in Bulgaria, as they were preparing to rob a bank office in downtown Sofia.

"The next police operations will be codenamed with names of judges who have let those criminals out on bail," threatened Tsvetanov at a press conference later Saturday.

He added that he admits there are decent people working in the judiciary, but all too often officials from there in effect "mock" the efforts of the law enforcement units by letting suspects who turn out criminals back to freedom.

The latest police operation was codenamed "the Protected" for its targets were allegedly released multiple times on bail after having been turned in by police.
