German Chancellor Angela Merkel has praised highly the quality of German-Bulgarian diplomatic relations in a special letter to Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov.
"I am convinced that we will continue the successful mutual collaboration our two countries have", Angela Merkel wrote, as cited by the Bulgarian Council of Ministers' press office.
In her letter, the German Chancellor expresses her gratitude for the Bulgarian PM's congratulations on Germany's 20 years reunification anniversary. According to Merkel, this is a sign of a close connection between the two nations.
Angela Merkel has already praised Bulgaria's financial stability during her one-day visit to Sofia in October, stating that Bulgaria contributes to the overall balance that is necessary for the European area .
On this occasion, the German Chancellor also declared her all-out support for the expansion of Bulgarian-German economic relations. Germany, the largest economy in the EU and the euro zone, is Bulgaria's No. trading partner.
