Foreign Interest Surges in Bulgarian Property Market, Especially in Resorts
Real estate agents have reported a surge in property purchases by foreigners in Bulgaria's resorts and major cities like Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna, and Burgas
Bulgaria's Construction Supervision Directorate has moved to shut down at least temporarily Marina Dinevi, the Black Sea yacht port of tycoons Yordan Dinev and Dinko Dinev, located in the Sveti Vlas resort.
The Burgas Office of the State Construction Supervision Directorate has ordered the termination of electricity and water supplies of the two buildings and the pool of the Marina Dinevi yacht port in Sveti Vlas.
According to the state authorities, as cited by the Bulgarian National Radio, these facilities were put into operation in breach of state regulations.
One of the two construction tycoon brothers, Yordan Dinev, the yacht port management was in disagreement with the state authorities over the precise area of the Marina Dinevi facilities. If those are proven to be under 5 000 square meters, they are not subject to approval by the State Directorate, and are handled by the municipal authorities.
He has made it clear that his company was ready to provide all necessary documents as requested by the state institutions.
The tycoon further said that his family's companies are actually under a political attack by certain leaders in the Nessebar Municipality whom he did not support at the last local elections. He mentioned Chavdar Alexandrov, a Nessebar entrepreneur.
Dinev said his companies employ some 2000-4000 people, which makes his business a major factor in Nessebar, and therefore prone to attacks by interest groups.
In a special statement Marina Dinevi slammed the State Directorate for Construction Supervision for distribution information to the media without having actually notified the company management about its decision.
The management says that as soon as any order is received, it will be appealed, as the company did not agree with the position of the State Directorate.
