US Ambassador to Work on Trump Visit to Bulgaria
US Ambassador to Bulgaria Eric Rubin has said he will do everything so that President Donald Trump visits the country, according to the Bulgarian National Radio.
Kostadin Shahov, nominated by the ruling center-right GERB party, has been elected mayor of the northwestern municipality of Vratsa in a vote marred by a low turnout.
This was announced by Interior Minister Tsvetan Tsvetanov during the press conference of the winner in Sofia elections, Yordanka Fandakova, but did not cite any figures.
Six candidates vied for the mayor's post in Vratsa, whose former head Totyu Mladenov left the municipality after swearing in as Social and Labour Minister in the government of the ruling center-right GERB.
These were the chair of the municipal council Kostadin Shahov, nominated by the ruling center-right GERB party and backed by the right-wing parties, the head of the local unit of the Bulgarian postal monopoly Tsvetelina Damyanovska, picked by the Bulgarian Socialist Party, Alyosha Ignatov from the conservative right-wing "Order, Lawfulness and Justice" (RZS) , Haralambi Efremov from the Bulgarian New Democracy Party, Stefan Cholakov (the Bulgarian National Radical Party) and independent Kiril Iliev.
The eligible voters in the municipality of Vratsa were 85,000.
