Bulgaria's Summer Struggle: Staffing Crisis Threatens Seaside Hotels
As summer approaches, Bulgaria's seaside tourism industry faces a daunting challenge as hotels may remain shuttered due to a severe shortage of staff
Bulgaria's Food Safety Agency has proposed all-inclusive offers to be only available in four- and five-star hotels.
The proposal has been coordinated with new regulations backed by the country's Ministry of Economy, Energy and Tourism, Food Safety Agency CEO Yordan Voynov has clarified.
"Hotels with three stars or less should have a capacity to feed their costumers corresponding with their bed capacity," Voynov has explained, as cited by the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency.
If the hotel's capacity is, for example, for 100 people, the restaurant should have the capacity to serve 60 people at once, according to the official.
Voynov has revealed that Food Safety Agency experts have stumbled upon hotels with 1000 beds and restaurants that could only serve 30 people.
"This is absolutely intolerable," he has declared.
In the summer of 2011, over 300 Bulgarian hotels were fined for serving low-quality food in their all-inclusive packages.
