In what seems a terrifying reminiscence of a July 2011 incident, three people have perished in Russia when a boat capsized on the Volga River.

Three people, including one child, were killed when a pleasure boat with 10 people on board capsized on the Volga River in Russia's Saratov region on Friday, RIA Novosti reported.

The boat capsized when it hit a floating tree. The child, 9, instantly drowned, while one of the men, in his thirties, was struck on the head by the hull and drowned.

Rescuers who arrived at the scene within minutes saved five people, including two children, who were taken to hospital suffering from shock.

In July 2011, 122 people were killed when the heavily overloaded Bulgaria cruise ship sank during a storm on the Volga River. Seventy-nine passengers survived the accident.
