Bulgaria's Parliament introduced Friday new rules for public procurement tenders, stemming from a proposal of Yanaki Stoilov, Member of the Parliament from the opposition Bulgarian Socialist Party.

The rules will apply for the supply of military equipment according to the common list of weapons in the EU, for the supply of special equipment, for construction and for services related to classified information.

Thresholds above which the new rules become mandatory are increased by 10%. For public procurement contracts in the construction sector they will be equal to or greater than BGN 400 000 without Value Added Tax, VAT.

With the changes, the lawmakers decided to also procure as subcontractor enterprises and cooperatives of people with disabilities. The condition is for them to be able to meet at least 80% of the contract with their own production and resource, and for the public order to be included included in the government's list for implementing programs to protect jobs of people with disabilities.

Stoilov said he accepted the adding of the text about the disabled persons and their labor integration.
