European Parliament Passes Landmark Directive on Platform Workers' Rights

Members of the European Parliament's Petitions Committee will arrive in Bulgaria on a two-day fact-finding mission to discuss the situation of sites in Suhodol, Rila and the Rhodope Mountains that have been the subject of petitions.
The delegation, scheduled to arrive June 30, includes Viktor Bostinaru (S&D Group, Romania) Margarete Auken (Greens/European Free Alliance, Denmark), Maria Nedelcheva (European People's Party, Bulgaria) and Iliana Iotova (S&D Group, Bulgaria), as well as representatives of the committee's secretariat, according to EP's press office.
The main topics of the talks will be Sofia's waste depot and infringements under Natura 2000 in Rila and the Rhodope Mountains.
The delegation will meet with Sofia Mayor Yordanka Fandakova, Environment Minister Nona Karadzhova, Ombudsman Konstantin Penchev and Yordan Bakalov, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Human Rights, Religious Denominations, Citizens' Complaints and Petitions.
The MEPs will also hold on-site meetings with representatives of the non-governmental sector and environmentalists who have started petitions.
In Kyustendil, a town in the far west of Bulgaria, the delegation will meet District Governor Lyubomir Anchev and on July 01, the MEPs will hold talks with Smolyan District Governor Stefan Staykov and Smolyan Mayor Dora Yankova.
