Bulgaria: Far-Right Candidate Concedes Defeat in Austria's Presidential Election

Norbert Hofer the candidate of Austria's Freedom Party, is set to lose the presidential election rerun that is being held on Sunday, exit polls show.

His opponent Alexander Van der Bellen, a former head of the Green party, is leading, according to estimates cited by daily newspaper Die Presse.

A poll quoted by the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung suggests projected support for him is 53.6%.

The repeat election was called after the country's top court ruled the second round of the vote held earlier this year had been marked by irregularities.

It raised fears across Europe that a far-right candidate might win a presidential election on the continent for the first time since the Second World War.

The second round held in May had resulted in a narrow win for Van der Bellen.
