One of the eight attackers, who carried out gun and bomb attacks at six sites across Paris on Friday night, has been identified as a Frenchman.

French police said that one of the attackers at the Bataclan concert hall, where many people had been held hostages before security forces stormed the building, was identified by his fingerprints as a Frenchman known to security services.

At the same time, Egyptian and Syrian passports were found on the bodies of two of the attackers at the Stade de France stadium where a friendly football match between France and Germany was held.

The attacks in the French capital were carried out almost simultaneously by eight men armed with suicide belts and machine guns.

Islamic State (IS) claimed responsibility for the attacks, which left at least 128 people dead and hundreds others injured.
