Bulgaria's Deputy Prime Minister Meglena Kuneva said the authorities were expecting a new rise in migrant numbers in March next year, reports Focus agency.

According to Kuneva, as of November 2014 more than 30 000 people tried to cross into Bulgaria.

At a joint news conference Kuneva and Interior Minister Veselin Vuchkov said that since the beginning of 2015, the army will start providing logistical support for the border police guarding the Bulgarian-Turkish border.

Earlier on Tuesday Vuchkov told the BNT public broadcaster breakfast show that in the first few months the Interior Ministry will employ 700 additional border guards. He also called for the construction of a barbed wire fence along the entire length of the border with Turkey.
