Atanas Semov, a presidential candidate endorsed by the marginal conservative Law, Order and Justice party, has symbolically ended the term of the country's Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, by cutting a ribbon.

During a rally organized by his party in front of the Council of Ministers building in downtown Sofia, Semov cut a ribbon symbolizing Borisov's four-year term in office in a move apparently meant to mock the Prime Minister's frequent participation in ribbon cutting ceremonies at infrastructure objects.

"If I am elected as President, I will fire Borisov, because that is what the vast majority of the society wants," Semov promised his supporters, as cited by the BGNES news agency.

Yane Yanev, a controversial whistleblower and leader of Law, Order and Justice, also delivered a speech during the rally, vowing his party's runner would turn out to be "the surprise of the elections."

The supporters, who were thousands, according to BGNES, were demanding that Borisov's ruling centrist-right GERB party should step out of power and that a new Bulgarian constitution should be adopted.
