The government of the Libyan rebels, known as the Transitional National Council, has no certain information about the whereabouts of fugitive dictator Muammar Gaddafi, a spokesman said.
Gaddafi has been in hiding ever since his loyalist forces lost the Libyan capital Tripoli on August 21, 2011, occasionally releasing media statements.
The rebel government spokesman Col Ahmed Omar Bani says he thinks anybody who knew where Gaddafi was would turn him in for the nearly USD 2 B bounty set by the revolutionaries, as cited by Al Jazeera.
Bani told reporters Saturday that "up to now we don't have any certain information or intelligence about his whereabouts".
Fierce fighting around Gaddafi's hometown of Sirte and another stronghold of Bani Walid have drawn speculation that the fugitive leader might be there.
While the rebels have made advances against Sirte, they have been not only repulsed but also counter-attacked at Bani Walid, 180 km southeast of Tripoli, with the Libyan civil war which started in February 2011, dragging on, as the Gaddafi regime proved highly resilient.
