Bulgaria's Interior Minister, Tsvetan Tsvetanov, says he worked hard to create a really good team at the Interior Ministry and would not want to part with its Chief Secretary, Kalin Georgiev.
Tsvetanov spoke Tuesday in an interview for the Bulgarian National Television, BNT, in the heels of reports Georgiev would be the most likely new Director of the State Agency for National Security, DANS, after Tsvetlin Yovchev's resignation from the post.
When the interest of the State is concerned, there should be no problem to nominate anyone from any institution as DANS Head if they will do a god job, Tsvetanov said, adding the decision belongs only to Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov.
The Minister declined commenting on Yovchev's resignation, saying it was the latter's own, personal decision.
On other topics, Tsvetanov informed a committee to inspect Bulgaria's readiness for Schengen is expected on March 22. A Member of the European Parliament, a reporter in Schengen, is further arriving on February 24. Their work will focus on the Bulgarian-Turkish border. He reiterated Bulgaria will be fully ready to enter the Schengen zone by the end of March.
Regarding his election as Head of the ruling, center-right Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria (GERB) party election campaign for the fall local and presidential elections, the Minister pointed out any political nomination stirs debates and the assignment does not give him extraordinary powers.
Tsvetanov informed Bulgaria has set two new refugee camps in Lyubimets and Pastrogor to meet potential emigrants from the Middle East.
GERB leader Boyko Borissov reacted to the fall of the Zhelyazkov government during a live broadcast on his official Facebook page, following the mass protests across the country.
The government is making a second clumsy attempt to introduce the state budget.
