Bulgaria's top female tennis player Tsvetana Pironkova was defeated in the second round of the Dubai Duty Free Championship.

The 23-year-old Bulgarian was defeated 5-7, 6-2, 6-4 by Russia's Svetlana Kuznetsova, who ranks 23rd in the world.

The 25-year-old Russian, who is former number two in the world, has a total of 13 titles, including two from Grand Slam tournament US Open.

In the first round of the tennis tournament in Dubai, Pironkova defeated Seed 41 Ekaterina Makarova from Russia.

The Bulgarian tennis star has participated thee times in the tournament in Dubai so far. In 2006 and 2010 she dropped out in the first round, but she managed to reach the second round in 2009.

Pironkova currently ranks 32 which is just one position behind her all-time record.
